Full-truck-load Assignment and Route Planning in Deterministic and Stochastic Environments

The full-truck-load route planning and scheduling with time appointment system falls in the class of Traveling Salesman Problem with Time Windows (TSPTW). In this paper, methods for improving the scheduling of intermodal trucks in deterministic and stochastic environments, where ISO containers need to be transferred between marine terminals, intermodal facilities, and end customers are investigated. The objective is to reduce empty miles, and to improve customer service. Computational experiments are used to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed methods.
